Please describe your job as a Business Intelligence Analyst at Seven Senders!

Business Intelligence (BI) helps Seven Senders make better informed and data-driven decisions. We offer a comprehensive view of our company’s historic and current data, which we gather from different departments and sources. We then transform, analyze, and visualize the information for our stakeholders to use and act on. Parcel delivery times are a good example. We can measure the time it takes for a parcel to be delivered and provide a visualized metric showing historical trends of carrier performance. This, together with additional metrics, allows the company to choose the best carrier partners, improving customer satisfaction and operational efficiency and ensuring that Seven Senders continually optimizes its logistics network for better service and performance.

How do you collaborate with other departments to translate data insights into actionable strategies?

We collaborate with everyone from working students to founder level. Each is an expert in their field and knows what data is required in order to work efficiently or make business decisions. As our company deals with vast amounts of data and intricate KPIs, much of the analysis is best and safest done with BI tools. We collect, transform, and present the data to them in a way that can be understood and acted on, and further interacted with.

All in all, BI can support a variety of business stakeholders by providing historical data that shows impacts of past strategies, current data for operational needs, and future forecasts that allow the business to anticipate growth opportunities and make informed financial projections, for example.

What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in Business Intelligence?

Business Intelligence is a fantastic choice if you have a curious mind and like data, programming, and people. Learn a programming language like SQL, which will help you investigate the data, what it means, and how it can help the business. Being able to explain your insights in a clear, simple way is important — people need to act on your findings. The more you understand how the business works, the better you’ll be at spotting opportunities and helping teams make smarter decisions. Ask questions and learn about areas you are not familiar with, be proactive and courageous. All your efforts now will make the coming days better and easier.

Thank you for your time, dear Mia!
