3 questions to Nadin Langner, Product Manager at Seven Senders

Meet Nadin Langner, dedicated Product Manager at Seven Senders! As the Product Manager of the Business Intelligence Team, she is responsible for curating customer-centric solutions and adapting our products to their needs.

In this interview, Nadin explains what it means to be a Product Manager and why looking at the nitty gritty details is key when it comes to developing data products. Nadin also shares what she loves the most about her role.

Please describe your job as Product Manager at Seven Senders

As a Product Manager, I am responsible for providing tailored solutions that meet the current needs of my users. Therefore, it is crucial to understand my users' needs. Being backed up by a skilled engineering team, I turn every requirement into reality.

Daily, I manage my team’s tasks, define objectives, and manage stakeholder expectations within our capacity.

Since I am working with our data product, I strive to make data accessible to all users, regardless of their familiarity with data analytics. I am passionate about promoting data-driven decision-making wherever possible. Supporting users in solving complex issues can feel challenging and overwhelming, yet these challenges empower me to have rapid and sustained personal growth.

“As a Product Manager, it's my responsibility to provide tailored solutions that meet our customers' current needs."

How do you conceive the creation of a product?

Going out and speaking with your users is most important to create a new feature or product. I have many ideas of what I want to change or add to my product, but I can only tackle some things simultaneously.

What's it worth having the fanciest solution when it doesn't resonate with our user base in the end? So, setting the right priorities and investing the right amount of resources into creating a product is crucial. For the creation of a concept and action plan, I like to follow these steps:

1. Gathering ideas.

2. Evaluating the underlying business case to ensure I am working towards our company's goals.

3. Coming up with a potential solution for the issues and needs within a reasonable timeframe that's manageable with my teams' resources and capabilities.

4. Creating a (paper) prototype and testing my solutions.

Following these steps, I can avoid investing effort into something less valuable and create transparency on what we are working on and what not.

What is the thing you love most about your role?

I love to become a modern-day Sherlock Holmes and to get lost in the nitty gritty details and numbers. Since my role is to develop a data product, I often need to dig deep to uncover underlying complexities and identify issues.

It fulfills me and contributes to my self-confidence when I successfully solve these riddles or discover the best solution. Providing this knowledge and strength to assist my colleagues and customers brings me genuine happiness. It's a rewarding journey of problem-solving and collaboration.
